Senior Critters for Senior Citizens

We know that the companionship and health benefits of having a pet are absolutely clear!  We also know that seniors sometimes have concerns about pet ownership.

“A pet might outlive me and be put down for lack of a home.”

“I can’t afford a pet.“ (Concerns we hear often include purchasing the pet and paying for pet food and veterinary care.)

“What if I can’t care for it?” (Concern includes hospitalization, a move to assisted living, or lengthy visits with family elsewhere.)

The Haven Animal Care Shelter can help.

Here are the basics:

  • We will reduce or waive our adoption fee for senior citizens who adopt senior pets (8 years or older).
  • We will assist with veterinary care if you need our help -- for the life of the pet!
  • We will provide food if you are unable to purchase food for your pet.
  • We guarantee that the pet you adopt from the Haven will always have a home with us (whether your pet’s need is short-term or permanent).

Here are a few of our seniors that can be adopted through this program:

Bonnie

Prince

Queenie

There are many more, of course.  Click here to see the dogs available for this program.  They are listed under the "Senior Citizens" section.
